Yamaha Niken – Leaning Three Wheel Motorcycle

Yamaha Niken - Leaning Three Wheel Motorcycle

There were many attempts in the past by motorcycle manufacturers to make the two-wheeler more stable by adding a third wheel such as Can-Am Spyder and Polaris Slingshot. But none of them were as exciting as Yamaha’s new Niken, a leaning three wheel motorcycle with a stunning design. Just like Honda’s superb Neowing concept, the Yamaha Niken offers a big bike like cornering feel and sporty ride while providing excellent stability at low speeds. The motorcycle features a Leaning Multi-Wheel Chassis (LMW) with two front tyres leaning in unison. When looking from the side, the Niken looks like any other sporty big motorcycle except for dual tube front suspension.

The leaning motorcycle features a unique front end with two 15 inch wheels and dual-tube upside down forks. The complex Dual-Axis Steering system helps the motorcycle to turn and lean like a conventional motorcycle but with twice the front end grip. Design The Niken powered by an 847cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine derived from the Yamaha MT-09 street bike. The motorcycle will be available in 2nd Half of 2018.
